St. Andrew is a church where all are welcomed, fed, and nourished in the name of Jesus Christ. In baptism, parents promise to live with their children among God's faithful people; bring them to the word of God and the holy supper; teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments; place in their hands the holy scriptures; and nurture them in faith and prayer. The congregation promises to support and pray for the baptized in their new life in Christ. At St. Andrew, we help our families keep their promises by keeping ours--Sunday school, Confirmation, high school opportunities, and other CYF programs supports everyone at every point in their faith journeys.

Please direct all questions regarding children and youth Christian education to CYF Director Jessica Villa (jess.villa@salcmundelein.org).
Sunday school is St. Andrew’s Sunday Christian education for pre-K through 6th grade. We meet in person every Sunday morning during the second worship service from 11am-11:30am.
Our mission is to share the Good News of Christ’s love.
This program uses a multi-faceted teaching approach to capture and stimulate the widest range of children’s imagination and attention. Throughout the year we have multiple opportunities to show Christ’s love to the each other, the congregation, and community as a whole. We are staffed by volunteers from the congregation, which includes both adults and high school students. They teach and assist throughout the year.
Sunday School Highlights:
As an ELCA congregation, we affirm and practice infant baptism, and invite our 7th and 8th grade students to prepare to affirm the baptismal promises made on their behalf. Most people call this "Confirmation". While it is not a sacrament in the Lutheran church, it is an important part of life of all baptized people. It also serves to transition our students from a Sunday school format to a young adult/adult education format and to teach them more about the whys, hows, and whats of our faith. Most importantly, it reminds them of God's abiding, abundant love for them, and invites them into a deeper and more intentional relationship with God and the church.
We meet Sunday nights from 6-7:30pm at Grace Lutheran Church, along with St. James Lutheran's confirmation students. Our first meeting of the 2025-26 school year is September 7.
